Program Itinerary
Day 1: Fes:
Pick up at the FES SAIS airport at the time estimated by our guide and transfer to the Riad, well located and in the middle of the medina, which is the historical part of Fez, depending on the arrival time, possibility to visit a part of Fez. Dinner and accommodation in Riyadh.
Day 2: Fes:
After a delicious breakfast in the Riyad, we begin our guided tour of the new part of the city, where we approach the royal palace, the Jewish quarter (Mellah), then we will go to a viewpoint where we can observe the entire medina from the Tower. south and the few mosques. Then we will have to walk through the medina, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its labyrinthine streets structured by guilds of potters, dyers… etc, the bustle of its people will transport you back centuries. We will notice that it is a medieval city and that time has stopped on the clock “la Magana Bounania” 1200 years after its construction. A marvel! Dinner and overnight in Riyadh.
Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou Forest – Midelt – Merzouga:
We headed south to cross the Middle Atlas Mountains until we reached Ifrane, called “little Moroccan Switzerland” because of its great resemblance to that country. One of the animals that once inhabited here was the Atlas lion, which is why it has become the symbol of the city and to which a stone statue has been dedicated in the center of it. We will take the opportunity to stop and take some photos. We will cross the famous cedar forests and we will be able to admire the Great Cedar monkeys, the largest ancient cedar in the region and also feed the hundreds of Gibraltar monkeys that live in the area. Lunch in Midélt and from here the land becomes arid and full of spectacular geological formations and deep green valleys, such as the Ziz Valley. We will begin to see the typical adobe architecture, palm trees, some distant Kasbahs… we are at the gates of the desert. After an hour after Erfoud we arrive at the impressive Dunes of Merzouga and after the Hospitality Tea, we will leave the suitcases in the rooms and we will climb the first dunes that are next to the hotel and we will take the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful sunset. . Dinner and accommodation in a hotel located a few meters from the Erg Chebbi dunes.
Day 4: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi:
We are in the desert and today will be a day of Total Desert. After a copious and rich breakfast, we will surround the Erg Chebbi, an extension of sand desert where the Great Dune of Morocco is located, more than 250 meters high, and we will connect by track with part of the route followed by the old Paris- Dakar and with the mountains that border Algeria in the background. Stop at the Tissardmin oasis where we can find a race of Fossils that is still in this region and we will continue to a nomadic settlement where we will learn some of the secrets of their life and customs. Later we will stop at a panoramic point where we can contemplate the Erg Chebbi as a whole. We will arrive at the village of Khamlia, originally from Mali, where we will relax with tea while enjoying a small concert of Gnawa spiritual music. Return to the hotel to leave in a camel caravan to enter the heart of the dunes and contemplate an unforgettable sunset. We will arrive with the camels to the camp where we will stay in kHaimas “Tents made with dromedary hair” like those used by desert nomads. Dinner and night in kHaimas in the heart of the desert under a spectacular blanket of stars.
Day 5: Merzouga – Rissani – Dades Valley:
Rissani ”Date with the sunrise” since they are in the desert it is recommended to get up early to walk to the highest dune that is around the camp to enjoy the sunrise and this relaxing landscape that nature offers, we will return on camels to the town of Merzouga . After a delicious breakfast, we have to say goodbye to the desert and we will go to Rissani where we will visit its market (if we are lucky and it is one of the market days: Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday) we will follow the road. to Erfoud where there is the possibility of visiting the fossilized marble factory before continuing to the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad. 1 hour later we will arrive at one of the strongest points of the High Atlas: The Todra Gorges. The course of the Todra river has formed a gorge of vertical walls of enormous proportions and great beauty; It is a paradise for climbers and a unique place. A lunch on site and a half hour walk would be recommended to see and enjoy the Gorges in detail. In the afternoon we will continue towards the Dadès Valley, known as the Valley of Figs, passing through Boumalne Dadés we will stop at the “monkey legs”. Dinner and night in the Dades gorges.
Day 6: Dades Valley – Boutaghrar – Skoura – Ouarzazate:
We can enjoy one of the best views of the Dades Valley. We will do it from one of the most strategic places that the mountains offer us. From there we will be able to observe the number of kasbahs that there are and how picturesque each one of them is, then go out onto a road dotted with several Kasbahs of great interest until we reach the Kasbah of Aït Youl where we will make a detour and head. through tracks deep in the Central High Atlas, discovering spectacular landscapes. We will visit a nomadic family that still lives in caves in the Boutagrar Valley where time seems to have stopped. We will see mountains, canyons and valleys, as well as the caves where nomads still live in the mountains. Arrival at the Valley of the Roses to meet Kelaa m’gouna. Lunch in the town and in the afternoon we will pass through the palm grove of Skoura, to arrive later in Ouarzazate, dinner and accommodation at the Hotel.
Day 7: Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech:
Ait-benhaddou The morning is dedicated to the visit of Ouarzazate: Taourirt kasbah, film studios. Then departure to the fortified city of Ait Ben Haddou, where we will visit its famous Kasbah (Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO). Famous films such as Gladiator, Obelix, Sahara with Penélope Cruz or Jewel of the Nile have been filmed in this spectacular setting. Lunch in the town and in the afternoon we will leave for Marrakech through the Tizi Ntichka mountain pass with stops to take pictures. Here we will leave behind the lunar landscape that will give way to the predominant colors of green, ocher… etc. Arrival in Marrakech around 6:00 p.m. Afternoon free night to discover the famous Jamaa el Fna square. Dinner and accommodation in Reyad.
Day 8: Marrakesh:
You will have a guided tour of Marrakech that includes a visit to the Menara Gardens, the Koutoubia Mosque, the Saâdien Tombs and the Bahia Palace. You can explore the amazing medina and the fascinating Jamaa El Fna square with live entertainment and charming souks.
Day 9: Marrakech – Rabat – Meknes – Volubilis – Moulay Idriss Zerhoun – Fes:
